Shades of Me: White Edition

I was recently asked by Hayley (welcometothemousehouse.com) and Celina (petitapetitandfamily.com) to join their super-fun series, Shades of Me. Luckily, I was given a pretty easy color to work with: WHITE. So of course, I jumped at the chance to whip up an outfit since I haven’t sewn much for myself (or anyone, for that matter) lately.

The top pattern is Our Fave Top by Tessuti. The construction is quite brilliant (READ: simple), and it wears like a dream. So comfortable and surprisingly flattering even with a ton of ease. I will definitely be trying more of their patterns.

The pants are McCall’s 6514. I adore them, although I would size down next time. (These are a 12 - which my measurements match - but a 10 would work much better…or, a shorter length of elastic in the back. Damned big 4 sizing!)

The pants are made of a double knit I purchased at Joann, and the shirt is whipped up in this lovely gold-flecked knit from a little shop in the L.A. Fashion District.

I’m not sure how practical an all-white outfit is for a mom of two young children, but these are great pieces to add to my ever-growing handmade wardrobe. I’ve already worn the top several times after making it only a week ago!

What do you think? Totally out of my comfort zone here - baggy…white?! Would you wear it?
